Hunting Guide

Multi-Generational
Guarantee

Our knife owners love the MKC Speedgoat for its combination of lightness, toughness, and versatility. While there’s very little the drop point blade design can’t do, some hunters prefer a larger blade belly for skinning purposes. You spoke. We listened. The Stoned Goat was born.

If our Stonewall Skinner and Speedgoat had a baby, this would be it.

The Stoned Goat 2.0 combines the skeletonized, paracord-wrapped handle from the Speedgoat with the trailing point blade shape from the Stonewall — resulting in a knife that reduces the risk of unwanted punctures without sacrificing versatility or ultralight portability.

This 2.0 version takes the original design a step further by incorporating an integrated finger guard and a slightly longer (⅛″), thicker skeletonized handle for improved strength and easier lanyard wrapping.

PVD Coated Carbon Steel Blade

The Stoned Goat is made from cryogenically-treated 521000 high carbon ball-bearing steel.

This achieves the perfect balance of toughness, edge-retention, and easy resharpening. The blade is also PVD coated to a matte black finish which minimizes rust and glare.

Enlarged Belly

The Stoned Goat’s blade has more edge and less tip than the Stonewall, allowing for longer sweeping strokes (and fewer punctured hides).

While the tip is less prominent, it’s still accessible for more detailed work and non-skinning jobs.

Ultralight Design - 550 Paracord Handle

After skeletonizing the tang (the steel part of the handle) to shed unnecessary ounces, we wrapped it in 550 paracord to minimize load, resulting in a total weight of 1.9 oz. The Stoned Goat’s blade is also ultra-thin, measuring just 0.095″ thick at the spine.

The paracord can fix a broken boot lace, tie down a tent, hang meat in a tree, or help in any number of unexpected, emergency situations. And when the paracord is removed from the handle, the Stoned Goat 2.0 still fits securely in its sheath.

New Finger Guard for Safety & Comfort

The Stoned Goat 2.0 now features an integrated finger guard above the paracord handle to keep fingers from sliding onto the blade in cold and wet conditions.

It also gives you additional protection and control when choking up on the blade for more intricate tasks, and creates a more secure fit into the custom Kydex sheath.

Exclusive MKC Open Carry Sheath 2.0

Each Stoned Goat 2.0 comes with a USA Made, custom MKC Kydex sheath.

The sheath features a built-in retention screw to customize blade tension and allow for handle-down carrying. The Stoned Goat sheath comes with a Kydex clip allows you to carry your knife on a pack or belt loop, either horizontally or vertically.

Free Sharpening For Life & Beyond

Generations® is our promise to restore your knife to its original, unmatched working condition.

    IT’S HOW MUCH?

Yeah, I was a bit taken aback when I saw those numbers. I had just finished watching Ron Spomer and moved over to Mike Rowe, who was interviewing Josh Smith, the founder and CEO of MKC. Here is a guy with a background similar to mine, and he expresses views I think and believe in. So I went over to see what led this guy to his situation that day and I almost soiled myself. I'm not a knife guy, so I honestly had no idea what to expect. I looked around a bit, added a knife and sheath to my cart and then returned to the show. by the end of the show I was back on the site debating it. It took about a week of internal debate before I returned to the site and added another knife and sheath. I walked away again. I ended up thinking "you have spent over 1k on a scope to get just a little better, and considerably more on hand tools to be better and faster at your craft. What is the argument then? I'm not a knife guy, but I am a tool guy; if my belt is on my Leatherman is on too, and it has a blade I do use often, but I'm not going to do more than sharpen a pencile or open a box with it. What do you need with this knife then? I don't need it, it's not a tool I reach for in my day to day activities, but I realized it wasn't the tool I wanted. I wanted to support Josh. I wanted that high-end, American-made product. I wanted to be a part of what Josh and his extended family were doing. I wanted to support the values I saw in someone else. I went back and decided to buy the knife that…

Thanks so much for the fantastic review, Pat! We're thrilled to hear the Stoned Goat 2.0 made such a great 40th birthday gift - what an awesome way to introduce your friend to MKC! There's something really special about gifting someone their first Montana Knife Co. blade, and we have a feeling this won't be his last. Hope he loves that orange & black colorway as much as we do!

    Awesome!

The stoned goat is my favorite lightweight Skinner. I like the pair cord however I would love to see MKC offer scales as an accessory option …aftermarket scales just ain’t the same quality as MKC.

    Another great knife!

    Stoned Goat 2.0

I've only had this knife a couple of weeks and the truth this is more of a review of my SPEEDGOAT 2.0 which I've had a couple of months now. I haven't taken it hunting yet but I used it to butcher a steer 3 weeks ago. For a blade under 4 inches it was still pretty impressive for dressing and skinning.

That's when I realized my skinner was exactly the same length as my Speedboat and the perfect field dressing length IMO. I gifted that knife to my son in law that day, and realized, "*****!" I've got to replace it and ordered the Stoned Goat 2.0 a few days later.

All I can say is, it's a great knife like my Speedboat and waiting for first blood.

Thanks MKC for another great blade.

Thanks for the awesome review Ruben! Love hearing how the Speedgoat performed on that steer - that's exactly what we design these knives for. Pretty cool that you were so impressed you gifted it to your son-in-law and immediately ordered the Stoned Goat as a replacement! That really speaks to the quality. Hope that new Stoned Goat serves you just as well when you get it out in the field. Thanks for being such a loyal MKC customer!

    Great Knife!

I bought the Stoned Goat 2.0 for hiking outdoors. It is lightweight, super sharp, keeps its edge and comes with a great sheath. It is a great addition to my knife collection and is my go to outdoor carry knife.
